Thomas Charles "Tommy" Merritt (born February 27, 1948) is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives. He represents the 7th district, which comprises all of Gregg County and just the northern part of Smith County. Merritt has represented District 7 since 1997. In March 2010, Merritt lost the Republican nomination for District 7 to David Simpson.
